For students enrolled in an internship course, the work is part of a carefully monitored learning experience. The work should be appropriate to the student’s educational level and related to their major or career goal.

It is critical to complete the internship successfully. To ensure that this is the case, all students must submit weekly logs and a final report. In addition, a supervisor must complete an evaluation of the student’s work and verify the number of hours the student has worked each week.

The student and the agency or organization are required to sign an internship contract, which will outline their responsibilities and expectations. Failure to do so will result in the loss of credit.

If the student is not able to complete the internship, they must contact the Internship Coordinator as soon as possible. The contract must be completed and signed within two weeks of the beginning of the internship.

Students enrolled in a Media Internship must submit a Request for Approval Form to the Journalism Studies Program before they can start their internship. This is a requirement for both the Journalism Studies Major and the Journalism Minor.

This is a semester-long course that allows students to work with a media company or agency and perform original journalistic production duties. It can be completed in the fall, spring or summer semesters.

Co-op

Co-op internships are a great way to get a head start on your career. They give you the opportunity to learn about your chosen field while gaining real-world experience and networking with professionals in the industry. In addition, they often lead to permanent jobs with the company that hired you for your co-op term!

There are many different types of co-op internships available to a&m students. From music industry co-ops in New York and Los Angeles to study abroad opportunities in ethnomusicology and music technology, there are a variety of ways to get your foot in the door in your desired profession.

A co-op internship is a semesterlong work experience that counts as part of your degree. It also offers a great opportunity to gain practical engineering experience and make connections with employers who are looking for talented young professionals.

The first step in obtaining a co-op placement is to search the Handshake website for internships that meet the criteria for co-op work learning. You can also check with the faculty co-op adviser in your department.

Once you’ve secured a co-op position, the next step is to submit an addendum online via your Career Center account and to send a copy of your work report and supervisor evaluation to the co-op office. You’ll receive a letter grade deduction if you don’t submit this information by the end of your co-op term.

After completing your co-op period, you’ll complete four assessment items to earn a completion grade: a student work report, a supervisor evaluation, an essay and a co-op office supervisor evaluation. You’ll need to turn in all of these items to the co-op office by the date outlined on your addendum.

In addition, you’ll need to complete an internship grant application to obtain a semester-long Internship Grant. These grants are designed to support students who need extra financial aid while they pursue their co-op terms.

To qualify for an internship grant, you must have a minimum of 15 credit hours and a 2.5 GPA. You must complete a credit-bearing internship the semester you receive the grant.

Internship Grant

The internship grant is a one-time award to support students who are seeking an unpaid, off-campus internship. The award amount is based on the student’s financial need.

Students may apply for the grant through their academic department. Applicants must be in good academic standing and free of conduct violations.

The Texas A&M University System offers a number of scholarship and fellowship opportunities for undergraduates that can help cover the cost of an internship or study abroad experience. During this 10-week internship, students partner with an Oregon business to develop sustainability solutions for their operation. This includes energy or water audits, toxics reduction, green chemistry and life cycle assessment.

To be eligible for this program, a student must be currently enrolled in an AAMU degree program and have completed their sophomore year by May 2023. In addition, the student must be in good academic and behavioral standing with AAMU.

The Sustainable Coastal Development Fellowship seeks to broaden participation in marine and coastal professions by providing early career experience, training and mentorship to the next generation of scientists, decision makers and marine industry professionals. The Fellowship will enable up to two fellows to engage in natural or social science-based research projects under the guidance of a mentor.

The Fostering Pathways to Success (FP2S) grant is a five-year Title V federally funded project that will provide a variety of pathways for students that foster retention, persistence and completion to graduation at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. The FP2S project will focus on identifying and implementing high-impact practices such as internships and undergraduate research, in order to improve student retention and increase academic achievement.
